All Hail Rex

Beginning in 2005, the Mardi Gras planning committee voted an outstanding volunteer for that year as Rex, or king/queen of the Mardi Gras.  As the years passed and our numbers have grown, those who have been named Rex formed a new krewe, the Royal Order of Rex. 

In 2019 the Krewe of Rex took over the Saturday night Grand Ball and became the voting members for the new Rex each year.

The Rex for 2025 is D'Nette Whitlock. We are proud to welcome her to our organization.

In 2022 the decision was made to create a Rex Foundation, a charitable organization to help area youth with scholarships.  

In 2023 the Royal Order of Rex assumed on a new role as the organizers of the event with the support of the Red River Chamber of Commerce and will be the sole organizer starting in 2024.  The organization will continue to focus on promoting tourism in Red River, on growing the event even more and on providing a quality experience for our locals and visitors. In addition, it will  now be a fund raising event for the efforts of the Rex Foundation. The format will stay the same as our visitors have come to love. Only the administration will be change.

We at the Royal Order of Rex and the Rex Foundation appreciate your continued support. Come to Red River and have a great time with us!  And do so knowing that your dollars for T shirts and  sponsorships are going to a great cause.
